Fine early 19th century English gilt and ebonized wood triple plate overmantel mirror, the stepped pediment with brightly burnished gilt balls, the center tablet having swagged drapes surmounted by ebonized Greek key applied ornament flanked by ebonized lion masks over Egyptian term figures with fish scale carving, the three mercury glass plates with original ebonized slip linings, the whole in richly burnished gold leaf.
Reverse side has trade label from "Shipley and Son Japanners and Gilders .....Looking Glasses..." but whether this is the maker or a later restorer remains a mystery.
