Description
A tall umbrella stand in nicely patinated leather featuring four reinforcing bands on a cylindrical body, steel stud clips at top, two stitched leather loop handles and a canvas lined interior, originally used for carrying cordite for artillery. Bearing stampled symbols N and R.C.D. with an arrow. The stamps denote English naval issue and Royal Chatham Dockyards, with the arrow being a symbol of government ownership. English, circa 1900.
