An impressive early wainscot oak chair with paneled back and arched crest featuring elaborate carving of two stylized peacocks holding keys above intertwined chain borders around a central panel of bookmatched scrolls, sloping arms on turned supports and solid seat on apron over turned front legs and rectangular section back legs joined by box stretcher. Rich patina. English, circa 1650.
