Description
Scarce 18th century oak chest of drawers, East Anglia circa 1750, of unusual vernacular regional form having two shallow drawers flanked by two deeper drawers in the upper section over inverse graduated drawers in lower section, with paneled sides and standing on original bracket feet, the whole possessing good rich color and patination.
This type of chest originated in East Anglia, being made primarily in Norfolk. Often found either cut in half or built in two pieces, this one is more desirable being a single carcass.
Good size as a bachelor’s chest in a living room.
