Unusual English Edwardian “In and Out” board, a device by which club members could determine which other members were currently in residence. The panel on the left would hold paper name plates and the sliding mahogany hatches could be slid left or right to indicate the status of any given member. Not to be confused with the Naval and Military Club, known informally as The In & Out, a private members club located in St. James’s Square, London, for officers and gentlemen of the British Armed Forces.
