Description
Fine Charles II period carved oak coffer having plank top and paneled carcass, the two board top with thumb molded edge, the three panels with quatrefoil shallow carving, the top rail with similarly carved lunettes and stylized tulips, two regional motifs which indicate a South West England origin, either Dorset or Somerset, circa 1680, possessing good rich color and patina and retaining original wire “snipe” hinges.
